Where forestry mulching fits
Mulching is ideal for reclaiming overgrown acreage, opening understory, maintaining trails and access, improving sight lines, clearing fence lines and preparing selected areas for future use.
Selective rather than destructive
A mulcher can remove targeted growth while leaving selected mature trees and minimizing the amount of exposed soil compared with more aggressive clearing methods.
When conventional clearing is better
Large trees, major stump removal, building pads, deep grading and projects requiring complete root removal may need an excavator or other clearing method instead of mulching alone.
Questions
What size trees can be mulched?
That depends on species, diameter, machine and site conditions. Larger material may be better handled with conventional clearing or excavation.
Does forestry mulching remove stumps?
Mulching can reduce many stumps and woody material, but a construction-ready site may require deeper stump and root removal.
Is hauling required?
Usually much less than conventional clearing because the vegetation is processed into mulch on site.
